Compliance

Advertiser Disclosure

This disclosure must appear above the fold on every page of the consumer experience, from collecting information through displaying offers.

Required Disclosure Language

Offers that appear are from companies from which Engine and its partners may receive compensation. This compensation may influence the selection, order and appearance of the presented offers (however, this compensation does not influence the selection, order or appearance of offers relating to mortgages and home equity products). This compensation also facilitates the provision by Engine of certain services to you at no charge. The offers shown below do not include all financial services companies or all of their available product and service offerings. The third-party products are subject to the provider's terms and conditions and privacy policy, and are not guaranteed by Engine.

General Consents

Consent is typically the last step in the information collection process, and the language must be conspicuous and located directly near the Call To Action ("CTA") button for the user to submit their information. Engine and its Financial Services partners require that the user agrees to the following before submitting their information to receive auto insurance offers.

Represents the user's consent to conduct transactions using electronic signatures, electronic disclosures, electronic records, and electronic contract documents.

Partners building a Native API integration are recommended to have users consent to their own version of an "E-Sign" agreement. If this is not possible, reach out to your assigned contact at Engine.

Credit Authorization

Engine's own Auto Insurance flow collects the following consent alongside the date-of-birth question, immediately before the lead is submitted for offer search:

  • I consent to Engine's E-Consent, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Financial Privacy Notice.

  • I consent to Engine's Credit Authorization, which authorizes Engine and its marketplace partners to obtain consumer report information about me from consumer reporting agencies for the purpose of providing me with personalized offers for financial products and services.

  • I further consent to Engine obtaining consumer report information about me periodically in the future for this same purpose, with an opt-out mechanism provided.

  • I direct Engine to share my information, other than consumer report information, with its affiliates and marketplace partners to provide me with personalized offers.

Partners building a Native API integration are recommended to have users consent to their own version of this Credit Authorization language before submitting the offer search. If this is not possible, reach out to your assigned contact at Engine.

Terms of Service

Represents the user's consent to follow the terms and conditions of the partner's experience. Your users must agree to your terms of service and to Engine's Terms of Service.

Privacy Policy

Represents the user's consent to how their data will be collected and shared with Engine's Financial Services partners. Your users must agree to your privacy policy and to Engine's Privacy Policy.

Phone Number Field: If your flow collects the consumer's phone number, it may be used to verify the identity of the consumer or to follow up on their auto insurance quote.

Optional TCPA Consent: Engine does not call or text leads received via API partners using auto dialers without an affirmative "1-to-1" consent to do so. The only acceptable means for an API partner to collect this consent is to feature an UNTICKED box (or similar structure) such that the consumer must take an affirmative action to indicate they wish to be contacted specifically by Engine for marketing purposes. The consumer must not be required to tick this box to proceed through the flow.

You are not required to include this TCPA consent in your flow; it is simply an option for partners who wish to optimize lift. It is acceptable to omit TCPA consent from your consent flows entirely.

Post-Click Calling by Financial Partners: Financial service provider partners may call or text consumers who have clicked into an offer from that provider, in accordance with the advice of their legal and compliance teams, but may not call or text "pre-click."

Partner and Underwriter Disclosures

Auto insurance offers are frequently underwritten or produced by a named insurance agency or licensed entity distinct from the carrier brand shown on the offer card (for example, a marketplace partner operating under its own state insurance license).

Where Engine provides a partner-level disclaimer field or license information, this must be displayed to the user — typically in the footer of the offer/compare page — alongside standard disclosure links (Engine, Terms, Privacy, Disclosures, and Do Not Sell/Share My Personal Information).
